The ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy, which was enacted by Former President Donald Trump, requires migrants seeking entry into the U.S. to stay in Mexico while they waited for their court hearings. FOX 10’s Stephanie Bennett spoke with a Phoenix area immigration lawyer about the ruling’s impact.
Rose Law Group Immigration Department Chair Darius Amiri explains: “There’s a lot of other roadblocks, so it doesn’t just open the gate and allow people in. They still have to wait for their hearing date… there’s going to be processing. On top of that Title 42 is still in place, which is a health provision that’s been used to turn away people at the border seeking asylum.”
