The city is poised to get another big-box clothing store as early as the fall.
Construction of the Marshalls department store at Sonoran Creek Marketplace is on track for completion by Oct. 1, according to Mike Kelly, construction supervisor for developer Thompson Thrift.
A Marshalls spokesperson declined to give a specific opening date and would only confirm the 22,000-square-foot store will open in Maricopa.
City of Maricopa spokesman Quinn Konold said Marshalls represents city planners’ vision coming to life.
“When Maricopa residents came together to create the 2040 Vision and Strategic Plan, they let City Council and City staff know that economic development is a significant priority,” Konold said. “Now, they are witnessing in real-time the fruition of those goals and it is exciting to see. We continue to hear from an increasing number of developers and retailers how the investments in beautifying the community and a well laid out plan for growth are attracting them to want to learn more about doing business in Maricopa.”
