Casa Grande staff opposes land change

CASA GRANDE — City planning staff will recommend against a land usage change from manufacturing and industry to residential, the Planning and Zoning Commission was told Thursday.

City Planner Joe Horn spoke about the request from owner Gino Tarantini of Tarantini Family Limited Partnership, a Scottsdale business, for the 127-acre site at the southeast corner of Thornton Road and Cottonwood Lane. The item will come before the commission on Aug. 4.

“Staff believes that this site should remain in the manufacturing industry category and zoned Industrial with the existing conditions of record,” Horn stated. “The city is continuing to see a very high demand for industrial land. This is even more prevalent for land that is considered shovel ready with nearby infrastructure in place.”
