Corporation panel offers Rio Verde a choice

The Arizona Corporation Commission has waded into the water shortage crisis in the Rio Verde Foothills area.

Arizona Corporation Commissioner Anna Tovar sent a letter July 12 to Rio Verde Foothills residents asking them if they would prefer creating a domestic water improvement district or a stand pipe that would allow water hauling to continue.

Those in the area opposing the district hailed Tovar’s letter, which stated:

“I understand there are several PCSs (public service corporations) near the community that might be interested in providing standpipe service to Rio Verde. If the majority of the community would like to be served by a standpipe, perhaps one of those PCSs will step forward to assist.”
