MARICOPA — After Christian Price resigned as mayor on July 1 to become the president and CEO of the Maricopa Economic Development Alliance, Vice Mayor Vincent Manfredi served as interim mayor until Aug. 16, when the City Council chose Nancy Smith to become the city’s fifth full-time mayor, and the first woman to hold the position.
On Aug 25, a city press release revealed Smith’s 100-day plan “blueprint” of nine priorities for her first quarter “road map” as mayor.
These are the priorities:
- Local jobs by partnering with the County Workforce Development Director and CAC holding local hours to meet small business employment needs in Maricopa.
- Election integrity by working with Pinal County to “ensure future elections are flawless,” find and share the known issues with the last two Maricopa elections and follow-up with the county to “ensure solutions are put in place.”
- Transportation by engaging with the public to become influencers for needed SR 347 improvements in the city of Maricopa region.
- City webpage FAQ by working with the city manager to create a FAQ citizen focused webpage on the city of Maricopa website where common questions and answers most citizens are curious about will go.
- City council outreach by partnering with city council members to make sure all state, county, city and other related boards have assigned mayor/council liaisons.
