The city of Glendale is seeking proposals from individuals or firms to purchase and develop eight city-owned parcels in a prime location near Historic Downtown.
All eight parcels up for sale are located within the Glendale Centerline Overlay District. They are also within a Central Business District as well as a designated Entertainment District which allows the city the option to approve types of liquor licenses that otherwise may be restricted.
The parcels include two vacant buildings along 58th Avenue where storefronts for Glendale Shoe Repair and Heritage Cleaners once served customers, along with other adjoining suites. Four parking lots directly south of the vacant buildings are also among the considerations, as are two vacant lots, where Grand Avenue and 57th Drive intersect.
The sale of the parcels is part of a broader strategic vision that will increase consistent density of visitors, patrons and residents along with increased daytime and nighttime economic activity, the city stated in a news release.
