CASA GRANDE — The Casa Grande Planing and Zoning Commission recommended a change opposed by planning staff to multifamily dwellings on a large parcel on the east side of town.
The Thursday vote sends to the City Council a zoning change from Planned Area Development to R-2 classification on a 567-acre parcel near the southwest corner of Toltec Buttes Road and Florence Boulevard.
Scottsdale-based applicant Scapegoat Design Studio requested that the land be rezoned so it could move forward with a plan to create a housing development known as Post Ranch with 2,000-plus attached dwelling units.
City Planner Jim Gagliardi provided a detailed presentation to the commission regarding the request and expressed concerns that the zone change did not fit into the city’s General Plan.
