FLORENCE — Florence residents voted by more than 74% to approve Proposition 460, ratifying the town’s new “2022 General Plan — Our Town, Our Future” on Nov. 8. The overwhelming support for the new General Plan reinforces the Town Council’s forward-thinking approach in updating this plan as well as its commitment to encourage smart growth and development.
The mayor and council would like to thank town staff for their tireless efforts throughout the update process; Michael Baker International for their expertise and support; and our residents for demonstrating their commitment to long-term planning as we seek to foster our community’s strategic development over the next 10+ years.
Speaking to the result of the vote, Mayor Tara Walter added, “The tremendous support we received from residents both on this proposition and throughout the General Plan process is extremely gratifying. I think the successful ratification of this plan can be largely attributed to the town’s extensive public outreach efforts, which provided numerous opportunities for citizen input and consistently went above and beyond. Thank you once again to our residents and voters for supporting the town throughout this process.”
