FLORENCE — A 761-acre mixed-use development called Arizona Farms, which includes 2,311 single-family homes plus higher-density housing and commercial areas, was approved Wednesday north of downtown Florence.
The Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved rezoning and a Planned Area Development overlay zone. The community is bounded by Arizona Farms Road on the north, Heritage Road on the south, Felix Road on the east and the Copper Basin Railroad tracks on the west. Landowners are El Dorado Arizona Farms and Langley AZ Farms.
Approximately 38 acres of commercial space is planned, plus a pedestrian trail, two community parks and seven neighborhood parks. Commercial and higher-density housing options will be on the perimeter at intersections of existing or proposed enhanced parkways, according to a county staff report. The majority of the development, 669 acres, will be single-family homes with a density of 3.45 units per acre. Lot sizes range from 5,500 to 9,100 square feet.
