Sinema seeks funding for I-10/Kortsen interchange

CASA GRANDE — With local leaders scrambling to find the money to widen Interstate 10, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema says she has reached out to Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg with the aim of securing funds for a new Kortsen Road interchange.

In a press release from the senator’s office on Friday, Sinema said she is hoping to secure funding for the project from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity grant pool. Accompanying the media statement was a copy of a letter that had been sent to Buttigieg, jointly signed by fellow Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly.

“This project (the I-10/Kortsen traffic interchange) enjoys support from community stakeholders throughout Casa Grande and varying levels of government — it’s time to get it done. We’re strongly urging the Department of Transportation to award Casa Grande the RAISE Grant needed to increase economic opportunities and safety in the community,” said Sinema.
