COOLIDGE — For the first time in about seven years, Habitat for Humanity, with assistance from the Pinal County Housing Authority, is building a house for a Coolidge family.
On Friday at 533 W. Raymond St., a wall signing ceremony took place involving city officials, the Habitat for Humanity organization, Pinal County and others.
The house is being built for Jeffrey Holden, 35, his wife Anabel, 35, and their two young children. They must provide 100 hours of “sweat equity” in building the home.
Coolidge Community Services Director Gilbert Lopez said programs like this one provide affordable housing.
“This is a wonderful and beautiful family here,” he said. “This is a very special memory.”
Mayor Jon Thompson said Habitat does a lot of good work in rural Arizona, where it is greatly needed.
“We need these types of projects,” he said. “We need good families, and we have another one.”
He added the location of the house is an ideal spot in Coolidge.
