Innovative sustainability is fully encapsulated in one of Scottsdale’s newest developments.
The vacant area in the Scottsdale Airpark that was previously the site of a Cracker Jax operation is to be redeveloped into a $1 billion mixed-use destination called The Parque.
The 28-acre site, located at 16001 N. Scottsdale Road, has been vacant for many years. It is near other similar residential and mixed-use projects including Scottsdale Quarter and Kierland Commons.
Development of The Parque will include a large two-acre “central park” open space, offices, restaurants, shopping, hotel, residences, bicycle connectivity and a “green” parking garage. It will be a walk-friendly community with visually interesting architecture and shaded corridors.
“It’s a site that has been anticipated for redevelopment for probably 10 years or more,” said Bryan Cluff, planning & development area manager for Scottsdale. “There’s been a couple of other applications that came through and never came to fruition, so it would be great to see that reinvestment; it’s an underutilized site.”
The Parque is on target to move to the Planning Commission on Sept. 27, but is not on the agenda yet.
