Mesa city planners worked for two years to craft a set of modifications to Mesa’s zoning ordinance on drive-thrus, whittling down an initial set of ideas to something they hoped both commercial developers and residents could live with.
Those hopes were dashed last week when the Mesa Planning and Zoning Board voted 5-0 to recommend that City Council throw the proposed changes out.
Council, which is slated to consider the drive-thru amendments in October, can ignore the board’s recommendation and could approve the amendments.
