MARICOPA — Chrystal Allen-O’Jon, an active community member and Maricopa resident for the past 14 years, will be throwing her hat in the ring for one of the City Council seats opening in 2024.
Allen-O’Jon grew up in Los Angeles and retired in Maricopa with her husband more than a decade ago. After seeing the growth of the city, she said that now is the perfect time for her to take the next step and get involved at a higher level.
“I’m impressed with Mayor Nancy Smith and City Council,” Allen-O’Jon said. “My interest for running is because I actually do care about the city of Maricopa … and I just felt like, well, if those doors or those seats open, I would love to jump in and work with the mayor and council to do whatever I can with my passions and bring those to the table.”
