Last week’s Mesa City Council meeting featured a long agenda, but one of the few items pulled off the consent agenda the adoption of zoning amendments that alter design standards and processes for approving new drive thru-eateries.
The hearing and discussion dominated the hour-long meeting before council’s 5-2 vote to approve the updates, which take effect next month.
The measure includes a waiver that landowners can seek to lock in the current drive-thru rights on their land. The waiver must be obtained within three years.
