Commission considers land use change for Eloy housing

ELOY — There could be a few more housing opportunities coming to Eloy in the future.

The Eloy Planning and Zoning Commission on Jan. 17 recommended that the City Council approve a zoning change for land at 211 E. Fourth St. in the downtown area.

The project called Autumn Cottages at Eloy would have eight homes available, mostly through housing vouchers.

Mecca Energy would build and manage the units.

The commission was told Mecca Energy heard that people with housing vouchers were being evicted from their properties.

Currently, there is a dilapidated parcel on the property that would be torn down. It has been vacant for more than 10 years.
