A member of the Florence Planning & Zoning Commission put the town on notice Thursday when the panel voted to recommend that 660 acres of land be rezoned to allow for the building of what could be a more than 3,000-home master-planned community.
The rezoning now goes to the Florence Town Council for final approval.
The site of the proposed community, C.D. Farms, is generally located near the northwest corner of Adamsville and Plant roads. The project is bordered by Plant Road and a wastewater treatment plant to the east, the Gila River to the northwest, Adamsville Road to the south and undeveloped agricultural land to the west.
