MARICOPA — After 15 years, the city of Maricopa has decided to end its partnership with the Maricopa Economic Development Alliance.
“The dedication to the future of Maricopa by MEDA … has allowed our city to become a transformational place for growth and opportunity,” said Mayor Nancy Smith in a press release.
Each year, the city supplies around $650,000 to MEDA. Now, the city will no longer financially contribute to the organization and will focus on creating an Office of Economic Vitality.
On April 1, Christian Price, MEDA’s president and CEO, and Rachel Leffall, economic director of MEDA, will take their experience to positions within the city.
“Their expertise in industrial development will now work toward improving all aspects of development throughout the city,” Smith said.
