FLORENCE — Some Anthem residents attending an open house on a future “multigenerational” center expressed skepticism.
Gary McDonald of Florence Sun City said it already sounds as if Florence has decided to build the center with a predesign contract of almost half a million dollars without asking residents if they even want it. He said the survey appears “tilted” in favor of building the center.
Ryan Grabe, a principal with architectural firm Architekton, disagreed, noting the survey offers “not important” as one of the choices. But about 65% of survey respondents have indicated a strong interest, Florence Communications Manager Jeff Graves said.
Grabe said more than 700 people have taken the survey, and Architekton is working on setting a date to update the Town Council. About 20 residents attended the afternoon open house March 28 at the Anthem fire station.
