It worked for Katie Hobbs, so why won’t it work for Leon Potter?
The challenger in Maricopa’s mayoral race is 0-for-2 in accepting invitations to debates and forums with the incumbent Nancy Smith, who fielded audience questions alone tonight during the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce Meet Your Candidate event at Southern Dunes Golf Club.
After first promising his presence there, at 9:30 a.m. this morning, Potter ducked out, Maricopa Chamber Executive Director Kelly Anderson said.
Potter on Friday also declined to face Smith in a debate moderated by InMaricopa at the Maricopa Library July 11 — meanwhile, Smith and all five City Council candidates agreed to attend.
