On a September evening in 2023, women with wine glasses and copies of the 2020 novel “In Five Years” went from room to room in Karen Quinn’s 25th-floor condo at Turnberry Place, a four-building, high-rise condo development about half a mile east of the Strip in Las Vegas.
California’s high cost of living drove Karen and her husband, lawyer Mark Quinn, from a single-family home in the San Diego area to this condo in Nevada, a less expensive state without a state income tax. In 2021, they bought the $1.925 million, three-bedroom, roughly 4,000-square-foot condo at Turnberry Place, where Karen co-founded the Turnberry-women-only Wine and Book Club.
