Transition of Ascension Lutheran Church to single-family lots begins

By MacKenzie Brower | YourValley

The redevelopment request for Ascension Lutheran Church to become four single-family R-43 lots came before the Paradise Valley Planning Commission for the first time June 18.

Cole Mecray of CHM Holdings bought the property for $11 million last year and has allowed the church to remain until July 2024. He has also agreed to assist in the removal and relocation efforts of the spire.

Demolition and removal of the structures will begin after the end of July and before the final plat can be approved, according to Planning Manager Paul Michaud.

The commission will next meet in August and take action sometime around September.

The four applications include a minor general plan amendment, rezoning, preliminary plat and final plat. The minor amendment and rezoning are legislative actions that require final approval of town council and the preliminary and final plats are administrative actions.
