MARICOPA — The goal of Maricopa’s office of economic opportunity is simple: bring more businesses to the city, the office’s chief economic development officer, Christian Price, said.
The office began work in April when former City Manager Rick Horst left his position and became the city’s new chief strategy officer. He joined forces with former Mayor Price, who moved over to the city with a few of his colleagues from Maricopa Economic Development Alliance, after the city cut ties with the organization earlier this year.
“Rick has so much knowledge in the connection point and how to make negotiations and close deals based on the details of what the city can offer,” Price said. “Mine is more on the face-to-face (interactions), bringing them to the table. I’m learning from him, he’s learning from me, and together we’re kind of a dynamic duo working together to bring the best of all these worlds together to move (Maricopa) further forward.”
