FLORENCE — Pinal County District 4 Supervisor Jeffrey McClure updated his reelection campaign website to allege misinformation he said is mainly coming from two different county election challengers: Kevin Cavanaugh, running for county sheriff, and Brad Miller, running for county attorney. McClure’s challenger in District 4, Pete Sabin, is also included but only once.
The misinformation alleged by McClure concerns claims made by Cavanaugh about his previous occupation with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office in 2017. McClure’s website also includes posts disputing claims from Miller against the record of Kent Volkmer, the current county attorney who has held the position since 2017, and a post alleging Cavanaugh’s efforts to discredit PCSO by attempting to find widespread complaints of abuse from women against deputies.
“I was tired of them maligning the county staff, they’re going after us but it maligns the election people,” McClure said. “I’m just tired of it, I’m tired of them just lying about things that they’re doing. I mean blatant lies.”
