[LETTER] Mayor Smith shares her goals for Maricopa in second term

By Pinal Central

Thank you, Maricopa!

I appreciate your confidence in our city council, staff and the direction and vision in “unlocking the full potential of the city of Maricopa to create a thriving and durable community.”

It will be my pleasure to serve for four more years. As shared throughout the campaign, my goals include:

  1. Bringing jobs to Maricopa, taking vehicles off State Route 347.
  2. Bringing more retail and commercial options to Maricopa, taking vehicles off SR 347.
  3. Bringing more services, such as medical needs, to Maricopa, taking vehicles off SR 347.
  4. Using significant influence to keep SR 347 in the top three projects in the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Five-Year Plan and keeping pressure on to find ways to improve the timeline for construction.
  5. Using influence to ensure future Sonoran Desert Parkway phases stay on track.
  6. Evaluation of an additional route from Maricopa to Interstate 10.

In addition, the Maricopa voters recognize the quality council and staff goals to:

  1. Maintain low property taxes.
  2. Continue the poliicy of conservative budgeting by operating with less than revenues while increasing services.
  3. Adding needed new facilities with no debt (library, courthouse, police and dispatch center, new park, new dog parks).

I believe the city has and will see great things to come!

I want to thank my family and friends for their awesome support.

I also want to thank the more than 40 people who helped with my campaign. We’re all in this together! I thank InMaricopa for posting the op-eds sent in by some of my supporters.

Sincerely,

Mayor Nancy Smith
