Vacant land near Florence eyed for development

FLORENCE — A request to reclassify 96 acres just north of Florence to allow for a battery storage system data center, offices, warehousing and other development was heard Aug. 14 by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.

The land at the southeast corner of Felix and Judd roads and south of the Magma Ranch subdivision is currently designated for moderate- to low-density housing in Pinal County’s comprehensive plan. Owner Judd Ventures LLC is seeking a major amendment to redesignate it for employment on 80 acres and mixed-use residential — possibly to include retail, offices and homes — on the northern 16 acres for its “SunHill Project.”
