7-Eleven says no deal afoot with Circle K

An unsolicited offer from the owner of Circle K to buy the owner of 7-Eleven stores has been rejected by 7-Eleven’s Japanese owner, but some observers think that might be the last word between the convenience store rivals.

Seven & i Holdings Co. Lt. said in a letter released Sept. 6 its board decided that accepting the $38.5 billion unsolicited offer from Canada-based Alimentation Couche-Tard was “not in the best interests” of “shareholders and other stakeholders.”
