Florence Police Chief Bruce Walls will likely become Florence’s new town manager.
At its Monday meeting, the Florence Town Council will be discussing and voting on appointing Walls to the town manager position, a post he has held on an interim basis since April.
Walls’ possible appointment was revealed when the town of Florence posted the council agenda on Friday morning. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Florence Town Hall, 775 N. Main St.
The move comes as a surprise as a new council and mayor will be sworn in on Dec. 9.
But Mayor-elect Keith Eaton, who had made hiring a new town manager his top priority, said he is happy that the current council has mved forward.
