Transportation will play an important role in the future growth of Pinal County, a fast-growing region south of Phoenix spanning 13 municipalities and more than 450,000 residents.
The state already is working on the first phase of the $1 billion expansion of Interstate 10 in Pinal County, which will add a lane in each direction along a 26-mile stretch of the key traffic corridor.
