The Desert Sky and Gilbert Regional parks will be moving into their second phase of development, according to pre-design plans shared by Gilbert’s Parks and Recreation Department.
The 272-acre Gilbert Regional park near Queen Creek and Higley roads and the 115-acre Desert Sky Park near Power and Pecos roads both opened in 2019 after their first phase completions.
During those initial phases, 50 acres of Gilbert Regional and 30 acres of the Desert Sky parks were developed.
At last month’s council retreat, Parks and Recreation Director Robert Carmona revealed the town’s initial designs to develop the rest of the parks.
He said their opening had a significant impact on the town, with the outdoor spaces quickly becoming popular spots for residents to gather.
