Contracts for a major makeover of a central-Chandler street account for only a small fraction of the total cost of the project.
But grant funding is covering virtually the entire cost of what staff calls the Frye Road bike lanes project.
Contracts were approved by the Chandler City Council, at a November meeting, for the sewer improvement portion of the project. Archer Western Construction LLC — staff’s recommendation for a contract — will be paid about $1.11 million to rehab Frye Road sewers as part of the project.
Consultant Engineering Inc. was approved for a $184,000 management contract for the sewer project.
The Frye Road bicycle lane project was detailed at a June subcommittee meeting. Frye Road, from San Marcos Park to Homestead North Park, will be where a more than $15 million grant-funded makeover takes place.
