Big development meets opposition at Taylor P&Z

The June 3 Taylor Planning and Zoning meeting centered on heavy opposition to a proposed housing development, and took place at the fire station before a standing-room-only crowd.

The proposal, presented by Bob Worsley on behalf of Ranch Communities of America, was to rezone a 630-acre plot located near the former paper mill from agricultural to residential, which would allow higher-density housing. After rezoning, anywhere from 300 to 600 homes would be placed there, all custom-built by ZenniHome. Worsley is owner of both the land and of ZenniHome.

“These buildings are of steel construction and very appealing,” Worsley said. “We have built 160 of these homes for the Navajo Nation and a project of 150 in Show Low.” Some of the proposed homes would be individual homes on acres or lots with others being duplex, triplex and multiplex that would have four units.
