A panel of mining and utility leaders told attendees at the Pinal Alliance for Economic Growth annual meeting that the demand for copper and energy are having a big impact in Pinal County.

The panel at Robson Ranch Thursday included Travis Snider, vice president of sustainability and external relations of Arizona Sonoran Copper Company; Sophie Dessart, manager of communications and public affairs at Florence Copper; John Dailey, executive director of origination at NextEra Energy; and Brian Martineau, supervisor of construction and maintenance for the Pinal District of Arizona Public Service Co.

The panel discussion, moderated by County Supervisor Steve Miller’s district administrator, Brandon Gaylord, involved a series of questions about growth in the mining and utility sectors of Pinal County.

Dailey said that with the manufacturing and housing growth in Pinal County, the demand for energy is rising rapidly.

“One of the most important things from the dynamics of electricity supply is that for the last two or three years there’s been tremendous growth in terms of the need for utilities to supply power,” he said.
