Things you missed at Carefree’s Town Council meeting

The Carefree Town Council hosted members of the public for its monthly Town Council meeting. There was a wide array of topics covered at the meeting from emergency CPR machines to a multi-million dollar proposal for Pima Road improvements. Here are five things you missed at this month’s meeting.

  1. Fire department requested a new CPR machine

Carefree Deputy Chief Brian Talley was called upon to answer questions regarding a new machine that would allow for continuous CPR for individuals on the way to the hospital. While all firemen are CPR certified, there are times where they can grow tired and not be able to perform what the patient needs. This machine would alleviate this.

“We’re trying to juggle the patient, moving them in and out of the ambulance, we get tired, long transports to the hospital,” Talley said. “This device, we apply it before they ever make the stretcher and it’s continuous CPR all the way to the hospital. That keeps the pump going, the blood flowing, better chance of survival rate.”
