Surprise City Manager Bob Wingenroth is saying goodbye to Surprise for the second time.

Wingenroth sent an email to city workers on Wednesday to announce his resignation to take the same position in Laguna Hills, California.

“This decision was not easy for me,” Wingenroth wrote to hundreds of employees. “If I look at the 45 years that I’ve worked in local government, the finest, most rewarding and most fulfilling have been here with you in the city of Surprise. I will be forever grateful for your friendship, and the heroic and beautiful things you have done to help me and all the people who live here.”

Wingenroth, 66, will stay on until the end of November.
