Gov. Katie Hobbs delivered her State of the State address Monday, marking the start of a new legislative session at the Arizona State Capitol. She addressed key issues like affordability, potential tax cuts for families, and talked about the state’s latest actions to preserve water.
Hobbs, who is entering her fourth year in office and is up for reelection this year, said she is focusing on lowering costs and improving affordability for Arizonans. Last year, Hobbs emphasized “security, opportunity and freedom,” for Arizonans and said those themes would continue in her address to the Republican-controlled legislature this year.
The Democratic governor opened her speech by recognizing state Sen. Lela Alston, who has served in the state Legislature since 1977 and is retiring at the end of the year’s session.
