The Arizona Corporation Commission snubbed requests from Attorney General Kris Mayes and the City of Tucson to reconsider an energy supply agreement for the Project Blue data center.

The commission did not act on the two rehearing requests within a 20-day statutory period, effectively denying the requests. In a statement, a commission spokeswoman said the commission stands by its decision to allow Tucson Electric Power to supply electricity to the controversial proposed data center in Pima County.

“ACC Staff found that the (energy supply agreement) would have no adverse impacts on system reliability and may even improve reliability,” Nicole Garcia wrote in an emailed statement. “Staff also found that there would be no cost-shift to other customers, and further information showed that the high-load customer’s resource additions to the grid will ultimately lower fixed costs for most residential customers.”
