Peoria City Council unanimously approved Mike Faust as the new city manager, replacing Henry Darin who is stepping down to take the new position of executive consultant to the city manager.
“Probably the most important decision a council make, in my humble opinion, is the appointment of a new city manager,” Darwin said during the Jan. 27 council meeting.
The city manager is appointed by council and serves as the city’s chief executive officer, responsible for implementing the policy and programs of the elected body and managing city operations.
The city has agreed to pay Faust an annual base salary of $325,000.
Faust has been a Peoria deputy city manager since May 2023. Before that he served at Ar aizona’s Department of Child Safety from 2015 to 2023, and served as director from August 2019 to January 2023.
