The Tempe Union Governing Board on Jan. 14 unanimously approved a letter of intent authorizing negotiations to sell one part of  a 48-acre district-owned parcel along Kyrene Road in Chandler and lease another part.

The move would set the stage for a mixed-use redevelopment with residential development on the parcel that would be sold and light industrial uses on the leased part.
