The Center for Arizona Policy has successfully convinced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Civil Rights to investigate the state Department of Health Services for alleged discrimination against faith-based behavioral health facilities.
The center confirmed during a press conference on Wednesday that the federal government launched the investigation after it filed a complaint against the state Department of Health Services last June.
The HHS’s Office of Civil Rights announced in a December press release that it was launching a “major investigation” into a state health department, but didn’t mention Arizona.
But in a letter to the Center for Arizona Policy in December, the federal agency told the organization it had found sufficient cause to investigate the state department.
