After celebrating the opening of the town’s first official office space, San Tan Valley town councilmembers and staff have not taken their foot off the gas in recent weeks, continuing to shape the future of the incorporated municipality.
Although the town has plenty of goals that leaders hope to accomplish in the future, most of those cannot be completed if the town does not have money in the bank. With that in mind, town staff have started shaping San Tan Valley’s initial, interim budget for the fiscal year.
During the March 4 meeting, the Town Council approved a tentative interim budget, which will be in place to guide the town’s startup operations and spending through the transition period that ends on June 30. The approved tentative interim budget looks much different than that of other municipalities, as the town has not established a local sales tax or property tax.
