In the July 21 primary election, four candidates are running for three seats on the Paradise Valley Town Council.
Anna Thomasson is the only incumbent vying for reelection, as Vice Mayor Christine Labelle and Council Member Ellen Andeen-Keller are stepping down. She is being challenged by Bob Brown, Bill Nassikas and Daran Wastchak.
The Paradise Valley Independent sent out a questionnaire to learn about the candidates’ thoughts on the challenges the town faces now and in the future. All four candidates sent in their responses.
Bob Brown
Age: 66
Employment: Retired
Community involvement: From volunteering with our police department, including chairing that organization post-COVID, to serving on the Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment, I’ve worked to preserve our town’s character and quality of life. Service has always been at the center of my life — both locally and through organizations like Angel Flight West, Boy Scouts of America, Pilots for Paws, Flights for Life, and coaching youth sports over the years. What are the biggest challenges facing the town? The biggest challenge facing Paradise Valley is preserving what makes our town special while planning responsibly for the future. Since our founding, we’ve been committed to low-density, non-commercial living, and I strongly believe in protecting that character through mountain and open space preservation and thoughtful decision-making.
