Desert Vista- From President to Real Life Real Estate Planning

Belfiore Real Estate Consulting

Less than two weeks ago, President Barack Obama visited Phoenix’s Desert Vista High School; during his visit, the President highlighted his thoughts on the housing rebound, the American Dream of homeownership, and the Fed’s role in housing’s future.

In coming weeks, hundreds of Desert Vista high school seniors will embark on a multi-week real estate planning process in which they pitch a redevelopment project they envision to a city council made up of real estate professionals.  The program is part of Urban Land Institute’s UrbanPlan program, a community outreach program designed to expand the horizon of high school student’s understanding of communities, planning process, and the economics of real estate of projects.  ULI Arizona’s UrbanPlan Chairperson Jim Belfiore suggests the program is about much more than the real estate project: “UrbanPlan is truly life-changing for some of these young adults; UrbanPlan is a confidence-builder, a career-changer, often remembered by participants as their most rewarding high school experience.  Our volunteers, high-level real estate professionals, and their ULI-trained Desert Vista teacher, bring the complex world of redevelopment to life in their Economics class.”

If you have an interest in participating in UrbanPlan or supporting the program by become a sponsor, please contact Carrie Martin at ULI, 602-449-7916 or Carrie.Martin@ULI.org, or Jim Belfiore, 480-706-1002 or jimbelfiore@belfioreconsulting.com.
