Divided chamber opposes electric deregulation

deregFrom the Yellow Sheet Report

The Arizona Chamber of Commerce last week voted to oppose electric deregulation. Chamber President and CEO Glenn Hamer on Friday wrote to let the Corporation Commission know of its position, but his one-page letter didn’t explain the reasons. Sources said the board was divided on the issue.

The chamber’s opposition is seen as a victory for electric retail critics, but it puts the organization in an awkward position because it often strives to be neutral when there are disparate views among board members.
