Chandler wants to make it easier for businesses to reinvent existing buildings.
The city recently put out a call for a consultant to study its zoning, building and other regulations, and determine whether Chandler can make it easier for new business.
“We are seeing how our existing zoning and building codes are constraining people from going in and bringing creative reuses to buildings,” said Teri Killgore, Chandler’s downtown redevelopment manager.
With parking, setback and landscape requirements and new building codes, “it becomes less feasible to transition that building to something productive,” she said.
