The four finalists for appointment as Mesa’s next City Council member made their cases in a wide-ranging, hour-long public interview session Sept. 5.
The candidates, each sporting a resume detailing decades of community service, were chosen from 17 District 5 residents who applied for the seat left vacant by last month’s resignation of Dina Higgins.
They’ll be on pins and needles until Thursday, Sept. 12, when the council will convene a special 7:30 a.m. meeting to decide who will finish the term ending in January 2015.
The last time the council went through this process, in 2007, finalists were interviewed one by one, answering many of the same questions. This time they all sat at the table together and most questions were directed to one individual.
