Maricopa voters again will decide whether to increase the mayor’s time in office.
In a 6-1 decision, the city council voted Tuesday to place a measure on next year’s ballot that asks voters to consider upping the mayor’s term from two to four years. Councilwoman Julia Gusse voted against the proposal.
During a council discussion, Gusse brought up the argument that voters already had a say on the issue.
In May 2010, Maricopa residents defeated Proposition 400, which asked to increase the mayoral term length. The measure was defeated by only 22 votes (2,539 for; 2,561 against).
