Residents of the town of Cave Creek showed up at Scottsdale City Hall Tuesday, Oct. 8 arguing they deserve to have Scottsdale’s motto of being “The West’s Most Western Town.”

People dressed in classic western attire filled the council chamber, while the Cactus Shadows High School marching band played outside and a live buffalo stood by their side.

Cave Creek Mayor Vincent Francia began addressing Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane and his fellow members of council at time set aside at every Scottsdale City Council meeting for public comments.

He said while Scottsdale may have been “The West’s Most Western Town” 66 years ago when the motto was created, it no longer fits.
