After applying for and subsequently receiving a recommendation for denial for a General Purpose Foreign Trade Zone Grant of Authority applied for in March of 2011 for what was to be the Eloy/Pinal County Foreign Trade Zone, things may be turning around for the city of Eloy.
During the Eloy City Council meeting Monday, Community Development Director Harvey Krauss, in a written staff report and presentation to the council, recommended that the City adopt a resolution to amend its FTZ application to be filed under an Alternative Site Framework.
Rather than the stand-alone Free Trade Zone (FTZ) that the city envisioned, they have now decided to partner with currently existing FTZs in the Phoenix and Tucson areas; particularly with the Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities Foreign Trade Zone, or TREO.
