Construction sector gains strength, but that was before the shutdown

Construction spending was up, unemployment was down and existing employees were working more hours in September, according to a Tuesday report from the Associated General Contractors of America.

These numbers reflect activity just before the government shutdown, which ended after 16 days on Oct. 16. That shutdown may have derailed some of the industry’s progress, the AGCA said.
